Facelift for Louvre

The Louvre’s collection of 18th century decorative arts has no equivalent anywhere, be it in numbers or in quality. Comprising an unmatched assortment of royal furniture, tapestries and jewellery, they rank as one of the most comprehensive ever assembled in a public institution. For the remodelling of the Louis XIV wing (consisting of Conseil d’État rooms and the Salon Beauvais) – a significant aspect of the premises devoted to 18th century furniture – Louvre has an association with Montres Breguet, a partnership that seems a natural, logical one. When it comes to Breguet, many of its cultural initiatives have won it plaudits. The same spirit of patronage in favour of the arts and culture has prompted its CEO, Nicolas G Hayek, to promote a temporary exhibition of Breguet watches at the Museum, bringing together an extraordinary variety. Hayek has also decided to further support the Museum by financing restoration work on the Louis XIV wing. This part of the palace is where the objets d’art Department’s collections, dating from Louis XIV period, are displayed. Worth many million euros, Breguet’s support will finance the complete renovation and remodelling of the rooms for museographic purposes. In this fashion, Breguet is pursuing its policy of support for European culture.
