No film is more eagerly
anticipated than a James
Bond film. Similarly, no
watch debut is more enthusiastically
welcomed than that of the Omega
Seamaster, connected to a 007 film.
Omega has released the Seamaster
Planet Ocean 600 m ‘Quantum of
Solace’ limited edition watch to
honour the latest film in the franchise
starring Daniel Craig.
The new watch has all the features
which have made the Seamaster Planet
Ocean one of the world’s most popular
timepieces. These include Omega’s
calibre 2500 self-winding chronometer
movement fitted with the revolutionary
co-axial escapement, which reduces
friction while offering better accuracy
over time. It also has a power reserve
of 48 hours. A free sprung balance increases
its precision. The watch is perfectly
designed for diving: it is water
resistant up to a depth of 600 metres
and has both, a helium escape valve
and a unidirectional rotating bezel.
The watch has some unique details,
setting it apart from other Bond
watches. It has a black dial whose textured
surface is reminiscent of the grip
of Bond’s trademark Walther PPK. It
also features white Super-LumiNova
on its indexes and hands; the words‘Quantum of Solace’ are laser-engraved
on the inside of its sapphire
crystal. The Omega name and logo
and the Arabic numerals are applied
on the dial. The blood red tip of the
seconds hand and Seamaster logo
present a stark contrast to the black
dial. The watch consists of a limited
edition of 5,007 pieces. |
