The first grande complication time piece joins the Tradition line this year. Its truly unique design suits to perfection the collection’s visionary character.

Breguet timepiece 7047 features a spectacular Fusée Tourbillon mechanism. It comes equipped with the technically sophisticated handwound Breguet calibre 569, whose power-reserve device is the object of a patent application. Positioned opposite 10 o’clock on the dial, it features a reducer differential construction enabling the power reserve to be displayed on the barrel drum, itself large enough to hold two separate mainsprings.

The fusée chain transmission system improved rate regularity by guaranteeing the movement a constant couple whatever the winding tension of its mainsprings (a mechanical watch mainspring’s couple generally varies in step with its degree of wind). The cone-shaped fusée contains differential gears that transmits continuous force to the movement: when the mainsprings are fully wound and the traction strength is high, the chain linking the barrel to the fusée winds around the narrowest part of the fusée; when on the contrary the mainsprings are partially slack and their couple ebbing, the chain will wind around the broadest part of the fusée. The winding system has been further improved by the use of a column wheel with frontal toothing that markedly improves its responsiveness.

Undeniably forward-looking in design, the Tradition 7047 is a Breguet timepiece in every sense of the word. Its yellow gold case holds centuries of invaluable horological expertise while its slim bezel provides a distinctive frame for the generously sized tourbillon carriage. Featuring an upper bridge in titanium and a Breguet shaped bar in nonmagnetic steel, its basic design evokes A.L. Breguet’s earliest sketches.

Off-centered at 7:30, the asymmetrical yet discreetly understated dial adds to the design’s overall originality. Traditional Roman numerals and classic Breguet hands hark back to the founder himself. Its engine-turned hobnailed “Clou-de-Paris” centre displays an intricate motif executed with exceptional minuteness and skill. Secured by three blued screws, the dial salutes the historic souscription watches designed centuries ago by Breguet.

Transparency, contrast and relief contribute to the impeccable aesthetic standards that bring to life each and every part and component of the watch. Its round-edged crystal reveals a gloss-polished flange and enhances the various levels composing the watch face. Executed by a rare breed of specialist craftsmen, its pellet-blasted decorative areas add a contemporary styling touch to the watch. Symmetrically positioned bars on either side of the dial form an impeccably balanced visual tableau, perfectly representative of a revolutionary collection embodying rarely equaled horological mastery.
