< TIMOND >

Elusive, exclusive and expensive.
That’s how one would define a Timond. When the two premium luxuries of life,
time and diamonds, come together, you
get a pièce de résistance, suitable termed
Timond (time and diamonds).

With a collection that draws inspiration
from haute joaillerie, art and different
cultures across the world, Timond
watches are meant but for the finest
watch connoisseur.

According to Timond COO Tejas Soni, “Every Timond piece is hand-made
and exclusive. The ingredients that go in,
including the movement, the gold and
the diamonds, are world class. We don’t
compromise on quality. Luxury is about
procuring the best ingredients from
around the world to put together a high quality product.”

Flaunting gold and diamond in each of its creation, Timond watches stand out in a sea of mass produced steel watches. For, a Timond is born out of the expression and recognition of the need for the über rich to possess bespoke baubles.

Though 2009 has been plagued by the so-called recession, Timond has not been overtly affected. Analysing this, Soni says, “The watches we have sold are those valued at Rs 2 lakh and above. The clients who buy such watches are not the ones to be affected by recession. Our Elite Model series, which contains solid gold and pure diamonds, and are highly priced, have done extremely well.”

Each Timond has a small universe trapped in it. Each of their creation is made up of 292 parts, assembled by four designers, who have spent over two years perfecting it.

There are more statistics in the picture.
Not less than 208 tools and fixtures
are used to design and build a single
hand-crafted piece. For instance, a 145
gm watch consists of seven kinds of
screws, the smallest being 1mm. Similarly, the Elite Gold bracelet watch comprises 172 miniscule parts.

At each stage, the watch goes through
a lot of tests and trials to make it errorproof. All the parts, right from the
escapements to the screws are painstakingly hand-polished.

The making of a Timond consists of
183 operations, right from designing a
gold case to dial making, from diamond
setting to movement assembling, from
watch assembling to strict quality control
measures.

Each Timond is a study in luxury.
