Audemars Piguet hosted a charity auction dinner in
Singapore along with ambassador and Formula 1 driver Jarno Trulli for the benefit of ‘Abruzzo nel
Cuore’ (Abruzzo in the Heart) Foundation. With Trulli
spearheading a fundraising campaign to help the people of Pescara, who were affected by an earthquake in April, Audemars Piguet Manufacture decided to pledge its support and commitment by creating the unique ‘Royal Oak Abruzzo Tourbillon and Chronograph’ timepiece in
sandblasted titanium.
Fellow F 1 drivers like Sébastien Buemi, Mark Webber,
David Coulthard and Jenson Button also decided to
do their bit by donating their racing helmets and suits
for auction.
With an Italian-themed evening, the guests were treated to Antipasti, Italian porcini mushrooms, white truffle and Apricot Crostata blended perfectly with ‘Jarno Rosso’ wine ice cream. Renowned for his vineyard in the hills of Alanno, Trulli passionately shared his second love with the privileged guests. Specially flown in from Italy, these wines
were carefully chosen as the perfect accompaniment to the delightful delicacies. The guests were also given a bottle of Abruzzo Coste delle Plaie as a memento.
The Ambassador of Italy, Dr Folco de Luca Gabrielli, graced the occasion. The event managed to drum up over $ 400,000, with the Audemars Piguet Timepiece being auctioned for $ 305,000. As a token of appreciation from Audemars Piguet, each winning bid was presented with the exclusive Royal Oak Table clock powered by an 8-day power reserve worth $ 5,800. |
